Robert Ray Dorman was born February 27, 1942, in Bodcaw, Arkansas to Olva and Connie Fagan Dorman. He grew up and remained on the home place working in the fields along side his parents and brother and remained on the home place until his passing on January 23, 2014, his grandparents were Green and Lola Dorman. Robert was a very hard worker who loved the Lord and his family. He was a self-taught building contractor who was highly respected in the area, having built many homes in this area and he was also a talented cabinet maker. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandchild, Jeffrey Harding. Robert is survived by his wife, Shirley Dorman of Bodcaw, Children, Kay Harding and husband William, Renay Brown and husband Perry all of Texarkana. Larry Little and wife Terri of Shreveport, Louisiana and Emily Sorrells of El Dorado, Arkansas. Papa's grandchildren include Chris Harding and wife Lindsay of Suffolk, Virginia, Marissa Grigsby and husband Jason of Richardson, Texas, Colton Cain , Taylor Cain of El Dorado, Arkansas, Jonathan, Morgan, Jason Little, Abby and Trent Touchet all of Shreveport, Louisiana. One brother, Harowl Dorman and wife Renee of Magnolia, Arkansas, nephew, Wendell Dorman and wife Betty of Walker, Louisiana, niece Debra Smith and husband John of Kiowa, Colorado, and two great-grandchildren. Roberts health problems began in the late 1980's with a diagnosis of Cardiomyopathy and he was put on the heart transplant list February 14, 1992, and was blessed with a donor heart on June 2, 1992, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. The donor was a 20 year old named Robbie Cole, son of Karen and Ron Cole, who unselfishly donated their son's organs as he had wished to do. We are so grateful God put those people in our lives and gave this gift of life. Robert returned to building houses one year later reaching his goal set when put on the list for a heart. During the years after the transplant many respected his extraordinary amount of strength and determination to overcome obstacles associated with a transplant patient. Robert was a member of Bodcaw Baptist Church and was a 32nd degree Mason being a member of Evergreen Lodge to which combined with Whitefield Lodge of Hope. The family wishes to express gratitude for the medical care that has been given over the years by Baptist Medical Center and current Baptist Home Health Hospice for their care and kindness shown to Robert and family: Dawana, Felicia, Carol and Shanta. God blessed us with such loving and caring people, also local care from Dr. Vermont and his staff. Many family members and friends have also helped us through this difficult time. Visitation for Mr. Dorman will be 6:00 to 8:00pm, Friday, January 24, 2014, at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope. Funeral service will be 10:00am, Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home with Bro. Wendell Dorman and Bro.
