Mr. Robert McPherson, age 85 of Hope, Arkansas passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2018 in Wadley Regional Medical Center in Hope, Arkansas. He was born in Hope, Arkansas on August 5, 1933 to Ewing and Pauline McPherson. He is predeceased by his parents and a brother Jerry McPherson. A graduate of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville in 1958, he entered graduate school at the State University of Iowa in 1959. He served in the US Army in Nuremberg, West Germany between 1954 and 1956.

In his working career he was first in book publishing with Allyn and Bacon in Boston. Later he was an editor with Duke University Press in Durham, North Carolina.  His experiences led him to Random House as a college representative.

In 1972, he began his second career as a college administrator, first at Burlington County Community College in New Jersey and then twenty years as Manager of Auxiliary Services at St. Louis Community College in St. Louis, Missouri. Upon his retirement, in 1998, he returned to Hope to make his home.

Mr. McPherson is survived by his close friends and colleagues from during his working years.
