STAFF SGT. Michael Gabriel Smith, 32, of Seattle, Washington, formerly of Spring Hill, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2009, in a Seattle Hospital. He was the son of Kenneth Bud and Donna Smith of Spring Hill and born on September 19, 1976. He was a 1994 graduate of Spring Hill High School. Smith joined the Army National Guard before his senior year and served until 2000 and then went into active duty in the Army and served one tour of duty of Iraq. He was a member of Anderson Baptist Church in Spring Hill, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Roy Smith and his maternal grandparents, Phil and Nora Harvel, all of Spring Hill. HIS SURVIVORS INCLUDE: His Parents: Kenneth Bud Smith and Donna Smith, Spring Hill, Ark. Three Daughters: Karmen, Brittany and Shelby Smith, of Spring Hill, Ark. Paternal Grandmother: Edna Smith, Spring Hill, Ark. Five Sisters: Kenna Smith, Hope, Ark. Charlotte Cassin and Mike, Fort Polk, LA. Phillis Johnson and Jason, Hope, Ark. Shelly Brown and Randall, Avery, Texas, Andrea Hamilton Martinez, South Carolina And Six Nephews, Six Nieces, and a host of Aunts, uncles and cousins. MEMORIAL SERVICE will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Anderson Baptist Church, Spring Hill, Arkansas, with Rev. Larry Webb and Rev. Paul Shelton officiating. Smith was buried in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia, with full military honors on April 23, 2009. Local arrangements are by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home, Hope, Arkansas.
