Obituary

Mr. Thomas W. Tommy Bratton, age 74, of Gurdon, Arkansas, went to his Heavenly Home on Tuesday July 2, 2013. Tommy was born November 26, 1938, to Lennie Adams Bratton and Weames L. Bratton. Tommy was saved and baptized as a teenager at Beirne Baptist Church, and has attended First United Methodist Church for many years. He worked in the aluminum business for many years and was retired from Hardman Lumber Company in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening and camping with family and friends. His greatest joy was his grandchildren, their visits, and attending their school and church activities. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Carolyn Culp Bratton, one daughter, Jayne Ann Rountree and husband Doug of Hot Springs, Arkansas, one son, Mark Bratton and wife Holly of Gurdon, five grandchildren, Elizabeth Rountree Dillman and husband Mark of New Albany, Indiana, John Rountree and Sarah Rountree of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Payton Bratton and Bryce Bratton of Gurdon, many special family members, former co-workers and friends. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Cleo Bratton, Leonard D. Bratton, Edwin Ray Ted Bratton, and Earl D. Dickie Bratton, and one sister, Clarice Randolph. The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Dorman and staff, Dawana Smith and the Hospice staff, United Medical and staff, and Bro. Carl Ownbey and Bro. Tim Forrest. Also special thanks to his friends and family for the prayers, visits, calls, and many acts of kindness. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Thursday, July 4, at the First United Methodist Church in Gurdon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 2nd & Walnut, Gurdon, Arkansas 71743. Funeral service for Mr. Bratton will be 11:00 am, Friday, July 5, at the First United Methodist Church in Gurdon, Bro. Greg Burks and Bro Tim Forrest officiating.
