BLUFF SPRINGS
Travis Dillard, 86, of Bluff Springs, Arkansas, passed away quietly Saturday, October 22, at St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Texas. Travis was born on January 10, 1936, to Louie and Ozelle Dillard in Rosston, Arkansas. Travis served his country in the United States Army. After his military service, Travis was a truck driver for Meyer's Bakery in Hope, where he later retired. He then began his own litter business cleaning out chicken houses and raising chickens for Tyson Foods for several years with his wife.
Travis was a member of Bluff Springs Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He loved deer and fox hunting with dogs and was a champion sporting clay shooter. He also enjoyed going fishing with many of his dear friends. And according to Travis, he always caught the most and the biggest fish. He loved kidding with others and never met a stranger. Travis was dearly loved and will be missed by many.
Travis is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers Skip Dillard, Donnie Dillard, and J.E. Dillard; one sister Margaret Rhodes; and two grandchildren, Holly Gillaspie and April Carlton Clark.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Trudie Dillard; sister Cedallia (David) Burke; four children: Beverly (Jack) Curtis, Sherry (Randy) Carlton, Becky (Lee) Nowlin, and Duwana (Larry) Zelonis; seven grandchildren: Casey (Mikki) Curtis; Justin (Maci) Curtis; Lindsey Rosenbaum; Chris (Kandace) Carlton; Brittany (Adam) Camp; Heather (Vishal) Zelonis-Bagchi; Jordan Zelonis; nine great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 25, at Brazzel Oakcrest Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 26, at Bluff Springs Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Donnie Dillard and Bro. Casey Curtis officiating. Interment will follow at Bluff Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bluff Springs Baptist Church in Rosston, Arkansas.
