Mr. Warren Hartsfield "W.H." Gunter, Jr., age 81 of Hope, passed away, Sunday, October 13, 2013 in Hope. He was born November 6, 1931 in Daingerfield, Texas to Warren Hartsfield, Sr. and Erma Toland Gunter. Mr. Gunter was a member of First Baptist Church of Hope for over 70 years, a Director of First National Bank in Hope for 49 years, a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in the Korean War, he was Co-Owner of Gunter Brothers Timber and Lumber Company and Poultry Business. While attending SAU, Mr. Gunter lead the AIC in doubles in 1951 before entering the Navy. Mr. Gunter is preceded in death by his parents and one grandson Jay Beard. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Margie Lou May Gunter, his three daughters; Debbie Garrett and Dr. George Garrett of Hope, Becky Jester and Charles of Texarkana, Arkansas and Kathy Beard and Terry of Hope, his brother; Bill Gunter and wife, Juanita of Hope, six grandchildren; Leslie Garrett Sarver of Hot Springs, Lindsay Garrett Chalmers of Benton, Tiffany Reyenga Moore of Laneburg, Trey Garrett of Little Rock, Andrew Jester of Fayetteville, and Courtney Beard Polk of Rogers, other family members and friends. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the First Baptist Church of Hope 3rd and Main St. Hope, Arkansas. Memorial Service for Mr. Gunter will be 2:00pm, Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Hope with Bro. Mark Fischer officiating.
