Mr. William Cecil Cox, 92, of Fulton, Arkansas, departed this earthly life at his home on Saturday, August 21, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Cox was born October 21, 1917 in Fulton, Arkansas and was a retired mail carrier, farmer, and a cotton gin owner. He was the unpaid Mayor of Fulton for 25 years, member of Hempstead Countys Equalization Board, Board Member of Hempstead County Memorial Hospital and Southwest Arkansas Telephone Cooperative. Mr. Cox especially enjoyed coaching his sons and their friends in Little League Baseball in Hope during the 1960's. As a lifelong resident of Fulton, he loved his town and he loved its people. Believing Fulton to be the ideal place for industry, Mr. Cox was delighted when SWEPCO decided to build there. He saw this venture as good for area schools, businesses, and a welcome job creator for its people. Mr. Cox was a member of the First Christian Church, Hope, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents; Stella and Monroe Cox, brother and sister-in-law; Kenneth and Alma Cox, sister; Audrey Cox Mosier, son-in-law; Charles Tilmon, and infant grandson; Blake Cox. His Survivors Include: His loving wife of 72 years: Juanita White Cox, Fulton, Arkansas, formerly of Burtsell, Arkansas. Two Sons: Bill Cox and Paula,Texarkana,Texas. Mike Cox and Daphne, Texarkana, Arkansas. One Daughter: Cecilia Tilmon, Texarkana, Arkansas. Eight Grandchildren: Jennifer Tilmon Lilly, Prarieville, Louisiana, Chuck Tilmon, Rogers, Arkansas, Lauren and Jordan Cox, Little Rock, Arkansas, Leslie Cox Falk, Fayetteville, Arkansas, Allison Cox, Conway Arkansas, Michael and Marshall Cox, Texarkana, Arkansas. Six Great-Grandchildren: Nathan, Hannah, and Rebecca Lilly, Prarieville, Louisiana, Taylor and Emma Tilmon, Rogers, Arkansas, and Blake Falk, Fayetteville, Arkansas. FUNERAL SERVICES will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at BRAZZEL/Oakcrest Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Les Patterson officiating. Burial to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hope, Arkansas.
