Mr. William "Bill" Dowdy, age 71 of Emmet, Arkansas passed away, Saturday March 19, 2016 at his home. Bill was born on January 25, 1945 in Langley, Arkansas to Banks Alford "B.A." and Veda Bryant Dowdy.  He was a retired truck driver for Myers Bakery and Tyson, of the Baptist faith and a veteran of the US Army. Bill enjoyed squirrel hunting and fishing as his hobbies and he was a loving father and grandfather. Preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; R.A. and Banks Dowdy.

Survivors include; special companion; Mamie Ratliff, three sons; Stacey Dowdy, wife, Cindy of Rosston, Bobby Dowdy of Nashville and Jeffrey Dowdy, wife, Heather of Horatio, Arkansas, three brothers: Tom Dowdy, wife, Lynn of Athens, AR, James Dowdy, wife of Glenwood, and John Dowdy, wife, Nancy of Nashville, three sisters; Ruby Henderson, husband, Ed of Mineral Springs, Sis Little of Athens, AR and Louise Lott of Batiste, OK, two sisters-in-law, Imogene Dowdy of Hope, AR, and Brenda Dowdy of Siloam Springs, eight grandchildren: Veda Willis and husband, Jeff, Michelle Grissom and husband, Michael, Katherine Heaston and husband, Matthew, Emma, Luke, Davin, Mallory and Dakota Dowdy, four great-grandchildren; Gavin Grissom, Isabella Dowdy, Jacey Heaston and Hunter Heaston, other family members and friends.

Visitation; 6:00 to 8:00pm, Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at BRAZZEL/Oakcrest The Funeral Home of Hope.

Graveside service, 10:00am, Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Athens Cemetery near Umpire, Arkansas in Howard County, Arkansas, with Bro. Charles Thornton officiating.
