Obituary

Mrs. Winifred Irene Ward, age 94, of Hope, passed away, Sunday, December 16, 2012, at her home in Hope. She was born January 24, 1918, in Sutton, Arkansas to Bruce and Irene Murry Price. Mrs. Ward was a devoted wife, mother and also a lady with true southern hospitality. She was a retired bookkeeper having worked at Emmet Mercantile and was one of the last employees for 1st National Bank at the old National Building in Hope. She was a member of the Emmet First Baptist Church, life time member of Eastern Star and a member of the local B&PW where she held state and local offices. Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 25 years, Charles B. Ward. Mrs. Ward is survived by a son, Dr. Chuck Ward and wife Eleanor of Dallas, Texas, a daughter, Becky Christian and husband Bill of Hope, Arkansas, four grandchildren, Paul David Ward, William Michael Christian, Stephen Daniel Ward, and Amanda Michelle Christian, three great grandchildren, Kersten Ward, Elianna Ward and Tanasia Young. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at Brazzel/Oakcrest the Funeral Home of Hope. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Oasis of Hope, 3825 Hempstead 2, Hope, Arkansas 71801. Funeral service for Mrs. Ward will be 3:00 pm, Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at the Brazzel/Oakcrest Chapel in Hope, Bro. Richard Brown officiating.
